Adornment as devotion

Sweet Marcel creates modern relics, jewelry that carries the weight of art, history, and symbolism while remaining timeless and wearable. Inspired by centuries of ornamentation, each piece honors the lineage of artistry while speaking to the present. Crafted with care and intention, our work is designed to hold meaning and offered as a lasting gesture of our eternal romance with craft.

Sweet Marcel’s aesthetic draws from eras of intentional ornamentation. We draw from periods when craft, symbolism, and detail were more than decoration; they were vehicles of meaning, devotion, and identity. The modern interpretation of these periods guide the brand’s creative language today.

Responsibility & Sustainability

All of our polymer charms are hand-crafted, hand-painted and sealed, and the jewelry is assembled by hand at my artist studio in Los Angeles, California.

The core values of Sweet Marcel include environmentalism and humanitarianism. Our goal is to create as little harm as possible, in the production and distribution of our products. We do so by sourcing our materials and components from wholesalers that share our transparent, ethical, environmental, and humanitarian values, whenever possible.

Our supplier for our gold-filled findings and components is Rio Grande, who are committed to the London Bullion Market Association standard for their precious metals. They also provide transparency for the sourcing of their gemstones, to ensure that they are ethically sourced. During their production process, where they prepare gems to become the semi-precious stones that you can find on Sweet Marcel Jewelry, they only work with facilities that align with the Responsible Jewellery Council.

Our packaging and shipping items are made in collaboration with brands that center the environment in the production of their products. We use environmentally friendly items from companies such as Rio Grande, No Issue, EcoEnclose and Sticker You. For our synthetic materials, such as polymer, acrylic paint, and polyurethane, Sweet Marcel sources from local and small suppliers, whenever possible.

Process & Materials

Each Sweet Marcel piece begins as a sculpture.

Working primarily with precious metal clay (silver clay), Sweet Marcel hand-forms every design at a small scale, shaping each detail by touch. The material itself is made from recycled silver particles suspended in an organic binder, allowing it to be sculpted like clay before transforming into solid metal.

Once sculpted, each piece is carefully dried, refined, and kiln-fired. During firing, the binder burns away, leaving behind pure, solid silver. From there, every piece is sanded, polished, and finished by hand—often incorporating vintage or ethically sourced chains and findings.

This process is slow and intentional. No two pieces are identical; subtle variations are a natural record of the hand that made them.

frequently asked questions

What is silver clay?

Silver clay (also called precious metal clay) is made of fine silver particles, water, and a natural binder. After firing, it becomes solid fine silver (.999).

Is your jewelry real silver?

Yes. Once fired, silver clay becomes solid fine silver. Some pieces may incorporate sterling silver (.925) findings or chains for added durability

Is each piece handmade?

Every piece is individually sculpted, fired, and finished by hand in my studio. Small variations are part of what makes each piece unique.

Why does it look slightly imperfect?

That’s intentional. We embrace an organic, hand-touched finish so each piece carries subtle marks of the process, like a modern relic.

Will my piece tarnish?

Like all silver, it may naturally tarnish over time. Regular wear, gentle polishing, or proper storage will keep it bright.

Where are your materials sourced?Question

I prioritize recycled metals, vintage components, and suppliers who align with ethical and environmental standards whenever possible.

How durable is silver clay jewelry?

Once fired, it is solid metal. With proper care, it is just as wearable as traditional fine silver jewelry.
